How to set your wallpaper
A wallpaper has to live behind a clock, widgets or desktop icons. Start with the download made for your device, then check where the subject sits on your own screen.
iPhone: leave room for the clock
Choose iPhone on the artwork page and save the image to Photos. If Safari downloads it to Files, open the file, tap Share and choose Save Image. Go to Settings → Wallpaper → Add New Wallpaper, then pick Photos. Position the image so the clock sits in a quiet part of the composition. You can use a separate image or blur the background on your Home Screen for easier-to-read app labels.
Our portrait downloads are 1,320 × 2,868 or 1,080 × 2,340 pixels, depending on the original. Check the size next to the download before saving it.

iPad: check both orientations
Save the iPad download to Photos and choose it in Settings → Wallpaper. Our iPad files use a 3:4 portrait crop, at 2,064 × 2,752 or 1,536 × 2,048 pixels. Turn the iPad after applying the image. A subject near the center usually survives the switch to landscape. If your iPad spends most of its time on a keyboard, judge the final crop in that position.
Mac: match the picture to your display
Save the macOS file to a folder you’ll keep. Open System Settings → Wallpaper and choose the image. Our Mac downloads are 16:10, from 1,920 × 1,200 up to 3,840 × 2,400 pixels. On a wider monitor, filling the screen may trim the top and bottom. Try the fitting option that shows the whole picture if those details matter.

Get the full-resolution file
The gallery uses smaller previews to keep browsing fast. Open an artwork and choose its device download to get the full JPEG. Each new artwork page lists the actual pixel dimensions, artist, museum, license and a link to the collection record. A device appears only if the original can support its crop without enlargement.
